The court questioned that whether this reference was sent by the speaker National Assembly to this Ali Zafar answered in yes and said that the ECP had to given its findings on reference.

Continuity in Iran’s unrest to have fallout for the region: Experts

Islamabad, /DNA/ – Though there are a few genuine problems with the Iranian regime, the fault-lines are being systematically targeted through media-framing and threat-perception building in an orchestrated manner which, in turn, fuels unrest by mobilizing the populace, both domestically and internationally.
This was observed during a session, titled ‘The Current Unrest in Iran and its Impact on Pakistan and the Region’, held at the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS).
The session was addressed by Iran affairs experts Ambassador (r) Asif Durrani and Dr. Nazir Hussain, dean faculty of social sciences and humanities, University of Wah, besides Khalid Rahman, chairman IPS, and Ambassador (r) Syed Abrar Hussain, vice chairman IPS.
The speakers were of the view that continuity of such political instability and unrest in Iran would have implications for Pakistan and the region. Moreover, the Western world, by making Iran’s unrest a pivotal debate, may produce a fallout in Pakistan and exploit its fault-lines revolving around internal issues. The speakers emphasized that in order to preempt these implications, exploitation, and media framing, it is crucial that there is unity and less polarization between all religious and political elements of Pakistan.
The speakers were of the view that incidents that caused unrest are not new for Iran but, at times, an increased level of turmoil provides an opportunity for entities to exploit it to fulfill their ulterior agendas and corner elements which are a bigger threat or problem. The current unrest in Iran follows the same trend and is of interest to many global players for varied reasons entailing domestic or international agendas.
Considering this, a prominent role in forming public political opinion on Iran’s situation is being played by the Western media, they highlighted. Though there are problems in Iran, the depiction by the media, through employing media framing and building threat perception, is inaccurate in its meaning. It is not only intensifying the disturbance but also mobilizing the demand to bring a political change in Iran.
The speakers pointed out that this is a part of non-traditional warfare in which fault-lines are exploited to fulfill an agenda. These fault-lines can be internal conflicts in a system and disagreements among the public.
In the case of Iran, they further noted that so far it has been managing well its political fault-lines, such as the extreme disagreement of people and governmental flaws, in order to avoid greater unrest by maintaining continuity in the political system. However, greater challenges regarding the continuity of the supreme religio-political leadership, another fault-line that is being eyed by hostile entities, may emerge in the future.

New Karachi-Hyderabad motorway, ML-1, KCR projects to be signed

DNA

ISLAMABAD, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal Monday said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China would take the bilateral trade relations to new heights as both the countries would sign multiple projects worth billions of dollars.

The PM’s visit to China will help preparing a road map to take the county’s annual exports to $100 billion and beyond, the minister said while addressing a press conference here. He said during the visit, Pakistan would sign an agreement with China to seek first hand technical experience from the all weather friendly country.

He said China, on many occasions have expressed its desire to help Pakistan making industrial economy but unfortunately

previous government of PTI wasted four precious years by suspending the most important mega project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

On October 27, meeting of the JCC was held virtually in which the CPEC projects were reviewed, and both sides agreed to expand the scope of the project and to expedite work of ongoing projects under CPEC. It was also agreed that the final agreement would be signed during visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China.

Ahsan Iqbal highlighted that Pakistan’s most important project was the railway’s ML-1 as the existing system had become outdated therefore this project would have to be initiated on emergency basis.

Unfortunately, he pointed out that due to the criminal negligence of  the previous government, this project witnessed zero progress during last several years which also caused increase in cost by $3 billion from earlier approved cost of $6.8 billion to $9.8 billion.

Further, he informed that a new road project of Karachi-Hyderabad motorway would also be signed during the visit and the work on new motorway between Karachi and Hyderabad would start after the visit.

Similarly Karachi’s KCR project would also be signed during the visit to provide the citizens state of the art transportation facility in line with the orange train in Lahore.

Dera Ismail Khan-Zhob road project and Mirpur-Muzafarabad-Manshehra road project are also likely to be signed under CPEC, he said adding that Babusar tunnel project has also been included in the CPEC.

He said the both countries would also sign a project to establish national forensic laboratory in Islamabad to help the security institutions to cope with the extremism and terrorism by using the modern technology.

Ahsan Iqbal informed that an agreement for exporting agriculture products from Pakistan to China would also be signed besides inking a project to enhance the capacity of Pakistan’s meteorological department in forecasting weather.

This visit of Prime Minister is of utmost importance as it would not only bring the country out of isolation but would also boost economic ties with the world’s strong economy, he added.

Ahsan Iqbal said that through CPEC, the bilateral partnership turned to economic partnership and between the years 2013 and 2018 $29 billion worth of projects were executed with record speed.

More than 5000 MW energy projects were installed by China besides constructing hundreds of kilometers of road infrastructure including Havelian Thahkot and Multan-Sukkur motorways.

The dream of exploiting Thar coal mines has also been fulfilled with the help of China as over 1000 MW of electricity is being generated from local coal.

Khalistan convoy for ‘1984 Sikh Genocide’ remembrance in Canada

TORONTO, OCT 30 – Over 8000 Sikhs participated in “1984 Sikh Genocide” Remembrance Truck and Car Rally organized by the secessionist group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) which at one point brought the traffic to standstill and blocked the highways leading to Toronto downtown.

The main highway and dozens of linked roads were choked as hundreds of iconic Canadian trucks drove on the highway carrying flags of Khalistan and slogans of 1984 Sikh Genocide. Slow moving vehicles with flags travelling slowly on the highway created long lanes of traffic. The trucks carried banners saying that “8 days old Sikh infant burnt alive by Hindu mobs’. The trucks carried symbolic coffins to internationalise the Genocide of Sikhs in 1984.

The really was taken out just a week before the second phase of Khalistan Referendum which will be held on 6th November in Mississauga by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) where tens of thousands of Sikhs are expected to cast their votes at Paul Coffee Arena. At the first phase of Khalistan Referendum on 18 September, more than 110,000 Sikhs had voted for Khalistan Referendum.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ General Counsel and founder, said that 1984 Sikh Genocide is one of the biggest crimes against humanity where an attempt was made to erase Sikh identity and religion.

He said: Sikhs await justice and the real justice will be Sikh homeland of Khalistan. Sikhs want liberation of Punjab from Indian occupation through a democratic referendum which will allow Sikhs to vote on question of future association of Punjab with India.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said the RSS-BJP regimes is fuelling a narrative which will lead to another Genocide of Sikhs in India. He added: “The successive Indian regimes used violence against Sikh sovereignty to silence the independence movement but now is the time the community must vote in Referendum to have an independent Sikh homeland Khalistan.”

In the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination on 31 October 1984, organized attacks were carried out with the active connivance of police and administration against the Sikh population throughout India with the intent to destroy the Sikh community. The violence against the Sikhs continued unabated for several days in more than 100 cities across India resulting in over 30000 Sikhs killed; thousands of women raped; hundreds of Gurudwaras burnt and more than three million Sikhs displaced. Reports by several international human rights organizations and the most recent report “Mass Violence Against The Sikh People In India: The Events of November 1984 – A Case of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity (updated October 2022)” authored by the UK based Global Diligence LLP, an international law and human rights compliance group, makes it clear that the intentional nature, scope and scale of the violence against Sikhs in November 1984 was Genocide.
