Islamabad, 21 SEPT – Pakistan and Cyprus enjoy cordial historic relations in different areas of mutual interest including political, social and trade. There is a need to further cement bilateral ties through exchange of parliamentary and other delegations as there is a huge potential to boost these relations.
Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani expressed these views while talking to Honorary Consul General of the republic of Cyprus who called on him here at Parliament House on Monday.
Chairman Senate said that boosting the parliamentary relations would not lonely enhance the chances for better trade relations but would also argument the existing political ties between two countries. The Honorary Consul General of Cyprus brief the Chairman Senate about the efforts for enhancing the trade relations and the problems being faced by 5000 students from Cyprus studying in Pakistan. On this occasion Chairman Senate said that all out efforts would be made to provide better facilities to the students from Cyprus in Pakistan as they are not only the ambassador of their country but would serve as good source for improving the cultural and social ties between two sides. He said that a large number of Pakistan students are also studying in Cyprus and we expect that they would also be properly facilitated. Chairman Senate calls for exchange of delegations from Chambers of Commerce of both the countries to increase the trade volume. He assured that the Upper House of the Parliament would continue to play a proactive role in this regard.
