Lt General Raheel Sharif has been promoted to the rank of General and appointed as the Chief of Army Staff.He will take charge from outgoing Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Friday [29 November] at a ceremony at general headquarters‚ Rawalpindi.
Lt. General Rashid Mehmood has been been promoted to the rank of General and appointed as the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.The president has made the appointments on the advice of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. A notification to this effect has been issued by the federal government.
General Raheel Sharif will be 15th army chief who has served in Pakistan Army on various positions.
General Raheel Sharif is now working as Inspector General Training and Evaluation of Pakistan Army
while General Rashid Mehmoud is currently working as chief of general staff.
