FM Qureshi urges Rights Council for intervention in occupied Kashmir

GENEVA (DNA) -Pak FM Mr. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi is his country statement delivered at the 42nd session of (UNHRC) session in Geneva, called upon it to play its role in restoring the basic human rights of the Kashmiris to avoid a human catastrophe in IOJK.

He said the human rights body should intervene and force India to immediately lift curfew and release all detainees.

The foreign minister further said India had let loose reign of terror in the occupied Kashmir adding the innocent people of Kashmir needed immediate world help.

He further said the Indian draconian measures have put the regional peace at stake. He said India must immediatley be forced to stop using pelt guns against unarmed Kashmiri people.

He added, human rights council has an obligation to move on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir and report human rights violations in Kashmir.

He urged focused discussions intra-human rights council so as to force India to allow a commission to visit occupied Kashmir for assessment of the situation.
