KOHAT, 02 NOV (DNA) — The district administration of Kohat has decided to take strict legal action against illegal mining, particularly unauthorized placer gold extraction, following directives from Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir.
In this regard on Monday, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner General, with participation from officials of the district administration, Kohat Police, Minerals Department, Forest Department and other relevant agencies.
During the meeting, departmental heads briefed the participants on illegal mining activities reported across the district, their environmental and administrative consequences, and challenges faced by field teams in curbing the unlawful practice.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy, the Additional Deputy Commissioner General directed the concerned departments to take immediate legal action against those involved in unauthorized mineral extraction. He also called for public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the legal consequences of illegal mining. — DNA
