PESHAWAR, OCT 02 (DNA): Spokesperson for Peshawar police lines Muhammad Alam Khan here on Friday clarified that there was no general restriction on the entry of journalists into police lines.
In a statement, spokesperson Muhammad Alam Khan said that entry to the police lines may sometimes be temporarily restricted due to security risks or an unusual security situation.
He said such temporary measures were not aimed at preventing any particular group from entering the premises but were taken solely to ensure the security of the police lines.
The spokesperson said Peshawar police held the journalist community in high esteem and always treated media representatives with respect and dignity.
He noted that journalists played an important role in providing accurate information to the public, adding that the police attached great importance to cooperation and effective communication between the police and the media.
Muhammad Alam said that if entry to the police lines was temporarily restricted on a particular occasion due to security considerations, it should not be construed as a permanent ban on journalists.
He appealed to journalists to cooperate with police personnel and follow their instructions during any unusual security situation to help ensure the safety and security of journalists as well as all other individuals.
