LAHORE, SEP 27 /DNA/ – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Central Zone Headquarters of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and directed that operations against cybercrime be further intensified.

‎The Interior Minister inspected various sections of the headquarters, including the Complaints Cell and Forensic Laboratory, and reviewed the overall performance of the agency.

‎A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. During the meeting, the Interior Minister directed that strict and indiscriminate action against elements involved in cybercrime and online financial fraud be further accelerated. He ordered a vigorous crackdown against organized groups involved in online financial fraud.

‎Mohsin Naqvi directed indiscriminate action against elements involved in fake accounts, digital blackmail and online harassment. He further directed that public complaints relating to online harassment and fraud be addressed promptly on a priority basis.

‎The Interior Minister directed that an immediate response be ensured upon receipt of complaints regarding financial fraud so that possible measures could be taken in a timely manner to secure the funds of affected citizens.

‎Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed a comprehensive review of pending cybercrime cases and ordered that their investigations be expedited and brought to their logical conclusion at the earliest. He said that protecting women and children from online harassment, blackmail and other cybercrimes is a special priority. He also directed effective measures for the protection of citizens’ data, privacy and financial information.
‎The Interior Minister said that the government is providing NCCIA with state-of-the-art technology and all necessary resources to effectively combat cybercrime.

‎Mohsin Naqvi directed further strengthening of NCCIA’s digital forensic and investigative capabilities and called for increased use of modern forensic tools.
‎
‎He stressed the need for special focus on advanced training of officers according to international standards, saying that investigative officers must be equipped with modern skills to effectively deal with the evolving nature of cybercrime.
‎
‎The Interior Minister also directed that public awareness campaigns against cybercrime be made more effective so that citizens can better protect themselves from online fraud and other cyber threats.

‎The Director General NCCIA gave the Interior Minister a detailed briefing on the agency’s performance, ongoing investigations, actions against cybercrime and future strategy.
‎
‎Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that NCCIA will be transformed into a modern, effective and professional cybercrime-fighting force to provide citizens with a secure environment in the digital world.
‎
‎DG FIA, Inspector General Islamabad Police, Director FIA Lahore Zone, Acting Director NCCIA Central Zone and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
