ISLAMABAD, SEP 23 /DNA/ – President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Sardar Tahir Mehmood has paid rich tribute to the members of the ICCI Executive Committee, Standing Committee Conveners and staff for their dedication, hard work and valuable contributions during his tenure, saying that the progress achieved by the Chamber was the result of collective efforts and teamwork rather than the achievement of any individual.
Addressing a ceremony held at Chamber House, Sardar Tahir Mehmood presented shields to the Executive Committee members, top performers of the Standing Committee Conveners, Secretary General General and staff members in recognition of their outstanding services. Shields were also presented to President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub and Vice President Mohammad Irfan Chaudhry in acknowledgment of their leadership and contribution to the Chamber.
The ICCI President expressed special appreciation for Chairman Founder Group Sheikh Tariq Sadiq, saying that his guidance, confidence and encouragement had enabled the leadership to pursue a number of important initiatives after carefully assessing their merits, challenges and possible consequences. He said Sheikh Tariq Sadiq had consistently provided the necessary support and confidence to undertake constructive initiatives in the larger interest of ICCI and the business community.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood said that consultation, deliberation, consensus and implementation remained the guiding principles of his team. He appreciated the strong spirit of cooperation within the Executive Committee, which enabled important matters to be discussed openly, decisions to be taken collectively and agreed initiatives to be pursued with unity. He also acknowledged the valuable guidance of senior members, particularly former presidents and Council Members whose experience and institutional knowledge remained an important source of strength for the Chamber.
He said the Standing Committees had played a vital role in translating ICCI’s objectives into practical action. The successful organization of seminars, conferences, awareness sessions and other programmes reflected the commitment of the Conveners and their teams, whose efforts helped strengthen the Chamber’s engagement with the business community and relevant stakeholders.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood further observed that serving ICCI was a demanding responsibility requiring considerable personal sacrifice, as office-bearers had to devote substantial time away from their businesses and families. He stressed that the Chamber’s platform should always be utilized to advance collective business interests and resolve issues affecting the wider business community, rather than for pursuing personal matters.
Congratulating all the award recipients, he said the shields were not merely an acknowledgment of past services but also an encouragement to continue contributing to the institution. He expressed his best wishes for the incoming leadership and assured the new team of the continued cooperation of the outgoing office-bearers.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood concluded by saying that ICCI is a shared institution belonging to its entire business community, and every achievement that strengthens its image, credibility and service to the business community is a collective achievement and a matter of pride for its entire family. Those prominent among the attendees included former Presidents Zubair Ahmad Malik, Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi, Mian Akram Farid, Mian Shaukat Masood, ICCI members and markets Presidents in large number.
