RIYADH, 26 JULY (DNA) —Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held talks on Saturday with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss regional developments and efforts to ease tensions. During a telephone call, the two ministers reviewed the latest developments in the region and stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.
They also emphasized the need to intensify efforts to reduce escalation, contain tensions, and safeguard navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, as part of wider efforts to reach peaceful and comprehensive solutions that enhance regional and international security and stability.
The call came as concerns grow over maritime security following an escalation in attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea. Earlier this week, a Saudi commercial vessel sustained damage in an attack claimed by Yemen’s Houthi militia, prompting renewed international condemnation and raising concerns about the security of one of the world’s busiest shipping routes. — DNA
