ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Martial Arts Association (PMAA) organized the “Marka-e-Haq Women’s Self-Defence Workshop” to mark the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, where hundreds of young women received martial arts and personal safety training.
The workshop was organized in collaboration with IFMSA-Pakistan, The Trust Schools and Shinkyokushinkai Pakistan. Renowned karate experts Shihan M. Arshad Jan and Shihan Shakil Ahmed inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the importance of martial arts training for women.
PMAA Chief Trainer Sensei Anwar Mohiuddin said self-defence has become an essential skill for girls and women, adding that martial arts help build confidence, mental strength and discipline.
Participants received practical training in situational awareness, escape techniques, defensive strikes and ways to counter harassment and physical threats. A team of instructors, including Sumaiyya, Abdullah Munir, Aliza, Hanzla Chaudhry and Meerab, conducted the hands-on training sessions.
The event concluded with medal and certificate distribution ceremonies. The Trust Schools secured four gold medals to emerge as the top-performing institution, while Fatima Jinnah Medical University finished second. Lahore Medical and Dental College also received a special participation award.
