PNCA reaffirms commitment to cultural preservation on World Heritage Day

ISLAMABAD, Apr 18: Marking World Heritage Day, the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Friday reiterated its firm commitment to preserving, promoting, and performing the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Describing heritage as a vital element of national identity, the council emphasized that it serves as a living legacy connecting people to their roots while shaping the nation’s collective character.


The PNCA noted that this legacy is being actively safeguarded through its various departments, particularly the Heritage Division, where sustained efforts are underway to protect traditional arts, customs, and cultural expressions.


In a message, Director General PNCA, Muhammad Ayoub Jamali, said that safeguarding heritage was not only an institutional responsibility but also a collective duty.


He stressed the importance of engaging communities especially the youth to ensure that cultural values remain vibrant and are passed on to future generations.


Reaffirming its vision, the PNCA pledged to continue providing meaningful platforms that showcase the diversity and strength of Pakistan’s cultural landscape, urging citizens to take pride in their heritage and contribute to its preservation.
