During the meeting, Khurshid Ahmed Qureshi highlighted the problems faced by citizens and individuals associated with the meat industry due to the absence of a modern and standardized slaughterhouse in Islamabad.
He said that the lack of a slaughterhouse in Islamabad was creating difficulties in ensuring the supply of quality meat that meets proper hygiene and food safety standards. He added that transporting livestock and meat to slaughterhouses located far outside the city increases operational costs, which ultimately places an additional financial burden on consumers.

He also appealed to Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi to issue directives for the establishment of a slaughterhouse in Islamabad.
President ICCI Muhammad Zakaria Akbar Zia said that the establishment of a slaughterhouse in Islamabad was a longstanding demand of both citizens and the business community, which had remained pending for several years. He assured the delegation that the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry would raise this important issue at the relevant forums in the interest of citizens and concerned business sectors and play its role in ensuring the construction of a modern, standardized slaughterhouse in Islamabad at the earliest.
Secretary General of the United Business Group (UBG), Zafar Bakhtawari, was also present at the meeting along with the delegation of the Meat Association.
The delegation included Sardar Zaheer Ahmed, General Secretary of the Jamiat-ul-Quresh Meat Welfare Association and Vice President of the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries; Abdullah Qureshi, Chairman of Jamiat-ul-Quresh Pakistan; Abdul Aziz Qureshi, Vice President of the Jamiat-ul-Quresh Meat Welfare Association; Asif Rajput, Vice President of the Jamiat-ul-Quresh Meat Welfare Association; Abdul Rehman Khan; and Subhan Qureshi.
