NAROWAL, Oct 05 (DNA): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal stressed

the need for acquiring modern knowledge, saying existing knowledge would lose its relevance

without continuous learning.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a robotics laboratory at Narowal Public School here on Monday,

he said the government was committed to exploring the best educational opportunities for

children of Narowal.

Ahsan Iqbal said there was no favouritism at Narowal Public School and appreciated the principals

for taking measures to bring the institution to greater heights.

The minister stressed that there should be no compromise on quality of education, saying the future required people capable of writing books rather than merely reading them, as well as creative minds equipped to innovate.

“Knowledge is changing rapidly and new innovations are emerging, so it is essential to remain aware of these developments,” he said.

He said Muslims had once been at the forefront of the space sector when they held positions of leadership.

“When we severed our connection with knowledge, everything shifted to the West,” he added.

The minister said Pakistan could not progress through abusive language, hatred and hostility,

and urged the youth to stay away from mischief and disorder.

He said world leaders and CEOs considered fake news one of the biggest threats facing society.

Recalling a social media campaign launched against him eight years ago, he said a young man had

been influenced by it and subsequently attacked him with a gun.

Earlier, Ahsan Iqbal inspected the models and paintings displayed in the newly inaugurated

robotics laboratory.
