Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad today and signed the condolence book opened in memory of those who lost their lives in the recent devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal.
The Prime Minister was received by H.E. Ms. Rita Dhital, Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan. He was accompanied by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, SAPM Syed Tariq Fatemi, Foreign Secretary Amb. Amna Baloch and other senior officials.
In his message, the Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan’s deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Nepal, and to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.
The Prime Minister reiterated the sentiments he had earlier conveyed to Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah in a telephone call, reaffirming Pakistan’s complete solidarity with Nepal in this hour of grief.
He also shared with the Ambassador that Pakistan would be dispatching emergency relief assistance to Nepal, later this week, to support ongoing rescue and relief operations.
He offered continued support to Nepal and hoped that the resilient people of Nepal would emerge stronger from this tragedy.
The Prime Minister underscored the close and long-standing fraternal ties between Pakistan and Nepal, and expressed confidence that the two countries would continue to stand by each other in times of need.
Amb. Dhital thanked the Prime Minister for his kind and reassuring words of support and stated that this gesture would be long remembered by the people of Nepal. She also briefed the Prime Minister on the current state of bilateral cooperation.
