ISLAMABAD, AUG 12 /DNA/ – Ambassador of Russia to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, met with a delegation from the OIC’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) in Islamabad on Wednesday. The delegation was led by COMSTECH’s Coordinator General, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to further enhance cooperation between COMSTECH and Russia, in light of Russia’s observer status within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary highlighted the productive ongoing collaboration with Kazan Federal University and the Russian Association of Earthquake Engineering and Protection against Natural and Man-made Hazards.
Both sides identified significant potential for expanding academic and educational exchanges, including strengthening university linkages, promoting scholarship programs, and advancing joint basic research projects. They emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of initiatives agreed upon during the first meeting of the working group on cooperation between COMSTECH and the Russian Federation in the fields of science, technology, and higher education. That meeting was held on May 13, 2026, on the sidelines of the International Economic Forum “Russia–Islamic World: Kazan Forum” in Kazan, Russia.
Ambassador Khorev reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to further broadening its multilateral dialogue with the OIC and Muslim countries, including Pakistan. The parties also noted that cooperation with COMSTECH is playing a significant role in further solidifying bilateral relations between Russia and Pakistan.
