Mushahid addresses International Legal Forum: “illegal Iran war revolved around Regime change, Resistance and Reparations”, Pakistan’s peacemaking role lauded in Russia.
ST. PETERSBURG, JUN 30 /DNA/ – St. Petersburg, Russia: June 30, 2026: Pakistan’s role as peace maker between Iran and the United States, especially in brokering the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has been lauded in Russia at the International Legal Forum in St. Petersburg which was addressed by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed.
The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is a prestigious international annual event which was also attended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan as well as the Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court. In his speech at the concluding day of the International Legal Forum, Senator Mushahid Hussain spoke about Pakistan’s role in peacemaking adding that as a pivotal player in Eurasia, Pakistan is at the heart of regional connectivity in geo-economics as well as the centre stage of global diplomacy in geo-politics. He referred to the role of Pakistan as an emerging Muslim major Middle Power and he stated that in the next 10 years, Asia would see the rise of five major Muslim Middle powers including Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Indonesia.
In his presentation at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, Senator Mushahid Hussain referred to the tactics of neocolonialism to control countries through regime change, a role that has destabilized countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. He referred to the overthrow of the government of Iran in 1953, the regime change in Guatemala in 1954 and the 1960 coup in Congo which killed the great African freedom fighter, Patrice Lumumba.
Referring to the illegal aggression launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, Senator Mushahid Hussain said that the purpose of the war was to initiate regime change in Iran and to promote the notion of “greater Israel” but, thankfully, due to the Heroic resistance of the Iranian nation, that plan was foiled and the aggressors suffered a major defeat, which was the biggest setback for the West and Israel since the the Suez war in 1956. He also said that for the first time, the principle of reparations had been accepted under the framework of economic development and reconstruction through the establishment of a special facility of $ 300 billion for Iran, which has been incorporated in the 14-point Islamabad MOU. Senator Mushahid Hussain also condemned the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, adding “Pakistan stands firmly with our brethren in Lebanon”. He also referred to the changing regional landscape of the Middle East and South Asia in the past one year where 3 wars had reshaped these regions: Israel’s Gaza Genocide has brought about the burial of the Abraham Accords, the Indian aggression against Pakistan has buried the notion of ‘Akhand Bharat’ and the US-Israeli aggression against Iran has buried the dream of “Greater Israel”. He said that in the new emerging regional scenario, Pakistan emerged as a pivotal player in the Middle East which is not only a provider of security and stability but also a bridge of peace between the warring parties since it performed the feat of bringing US and Iran to the conference table after 47 years of animosity, a role that international multilateral organizations like the United Nations, European Union, OIC and Arab League had unfortunately failed to perform.
Senator Mushahid Hussain also addressed the Standing Committee meeting of the Movement of against Neocolonialism for the “Freedom of Nations”, which was hosted by the ruling United Russia party. Senator Mushahid Hussain also attended a dinner hosted by the Pakistani community in St. Petersburg and he also expressed good luck to the United Russia party in the forthcoming parliamentary elections in September 2026.
