ISLAMABAD, JUN 22 /DNA/ – A high-level academic delegation from Bangladesh successfully concluded its week-long visit to Pakistan, aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and fostering greater collaboration between higher education institutions of the two countries.
During the concluding phase of the visit, the delegation visited Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar; Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar; the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar; and the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar. The delegation also visited the National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad, where the delegates held detailed discussions with university leadership and faculty members on avenues for academic partnership. On the final day of the visit, the delegation visited Kohsar University Murree and later travelled to Nathia Gali, where they experienced the natural beauty of Pakistan.
Earlier, during the visit, the delegates visited Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro; Iqra University, Karachi; NED University of Engineering & Technology; the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi; and the HEJ International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi. The delegation also held interaction with Minister of State, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Ms. Wajiha Qamar at HEC, in addition to its meetings with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Additional Secretary Asia Pacific, Syed Asad Ali Gillani. The delegates also explored HEC and its functions during its visit to the HEC Secretariat, where they call on Chairman HEC Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar and other senior HEC officers.
The visit featured extensive academic engagements and interactive sessions with university administrators, faculty members, and researchers. Discussions focused on promoting faculty exchange initiatives, student mobility programmes, semester exchange opportunities, bilateral scholarships for students of both countries, collaborative research projects, and the organization of joint academic conferences and seminars.
The participants from both Pakistan and Bangladesh sides acknowledged the immense value of such exchanges in identifying mutually beneficial areas of cooperation and enhancing institutional linkages. They expressed satisfaction over the productive discussions held during the visit and reaffirmed their commitment to translating these engagements into tangible collaborative initiatives. They agreed that continued academic exchanges and institutional visits would play a pivotal role in strengthening educational ties and deepening the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. They also expressed their resolve to sustain and expand such engagements in the future to promote knowledge sharing, research collaboration, and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with both Pakistani and Bangladeshi institutions expressing optimism about future partnerships and a shared vision for advancing higher education cooperation in the region.
