ATTOCK, May 25: The Pakistan Navy won the inaugural Governor Punjab Night Football Tournament in Fateh Jang on Monday, defeating Fateh Jang United in an exciting final attended by a large crowd of football fans and local dignitaries.
Punjab Governor, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, the chief guest at the final, congratulated the Pakistan Navy team on their victory and praised their performance throughout the tournament.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the governor commended the organisers for successfully holding the tournament and promoting football among the young people.
He said sporting activities played an important role in keeping youth away from drugs and other social problems while promoting discipline, teamwork and positive values.
The governor also praised Khan Football Club and its patron-in-chief Sardar Taimoor Khan for organising the event and providing a platform for talented players from across the country.
He lauded Fateh Jang United for their fighting spirit and sportsmanship during the tournament, adding that victory and defeat were both part of the game and that true success came through dedication and hard work.
