ISLAMABAD, APR 8 /DNA/ – Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over the storming and vandalism of the Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Basra, Iraq, describing the act as a serious violation of diplomatic norms and international law.
In a statement issued today, the Foreign Office strongly condemned the breach of the consulate’s sanctity, emphasizing that such actions are inconsistent with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
Pakistan called on Iraqi authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and to bring those responsible to justice. The statement also underscored the importance of ensuring the security and inviolability of all diplomatic and consular missions.
Islamabad further expressed full solidarity with the government and people of Kuwait, reaffirming its principled position on respect for diplomatic missions and adherence to international obligations.
