OIC hosts key meeting in Jeddah to finalize convention on children’s rights in Muslim world

JEDDAH, 5 Nov /DNA/ – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in close collaboration with the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) hosted the Fourth Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Group meeting (IGEM) to finalize the draft “OIC Jeddah Convention on the Rights of the Child” over November 5-7, 2024 in OIC Headquarters.

It is worth noting that the meeting is in line with the Resolutions of the First Ministerial Conference on Social Development held in December 2019 in the Republic of Türkiye and the Second Ministerial Conference on Social Development held in June 2023 in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The draft convention aimed at strengthening the efforts of the OIC and its Member States in the field of protecting children’s rights in the Muslim Ummah.
