ISLAMABAD, Jan 07 (DNA): The poor unable to get two-time meal due to unprecedented inflation across the country.

The flour price has risen by Rs10 to Rs160 per kg. In the open market, the wheat price has increased to all-time high of Rs5,150.

Long queues of people could be seen all cities across the country and they have to return empty-handed after waiting for hours.

In Lahore, the rate of 40kg Chakki flour has been raised to Rs6,400 after an increase of Rs400.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Food Department has decided to increase the quota of subsidized wheat to resolve the issue of demand and supply.

Punjab Food Director Shozaib Saeed said that the quota of flour mills will be increase by 1,500 tonnes daily. After the increase, the flour mills quota will rise to 23,000 tonnes from 21,500 tonnes.

On the other hand, a man was killed during a stampede while purchasing flour in Mirpur Khas. After the incident, people staged a protest demonstration by placing the body on road. The protesters stopped the truck loaded with the subsidized flour. DNA
