ECP lifts fine on Bilawal after getting assurance of following code of conduct

ISLAMABAD, DEC 22 (DNA) — The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday lifted the fines on Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and other six leaders after getting an assurance to implement the code of conduct in local body election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Election Commission has issued a written decision on the notice against Bilawal Bhutto and others for violating the election rules in KP.  Bilawal, Khurshid Shah, Saeed Ghani, Murad Ali Shah and others were fined Rs50,000 each.

The ECP has said in its decision that the district monitoring officer did not give any decision nor did he send the matter to the Election Commission. The Commission has disposed of the code of conduct case against the PPP leaders. Barrister Saboor Rohaila followed the case on behalf of the PPP in the ECP.

Earlier, ECP had imposed fines of Rs50 thousand on politicians including Saeed Ghani, Bilawal Bhutto, Khurshid Shah, Murad Ali Shah and Saeed Ghani under charges of violating its ethical code.

ECP announced to remove the imposed fines on all politicians who were found guilty of violation charges and shared a written form on decision. Moreover, neither the the District Monitoring Officer give any decision nor sent it any issue to the election commission. =DNA
