ISLAMABAD, JUL 26 (DNA) – A three days Mango Festival is organized under the arrangements of Sardar Group of Companies at The Centaurus Mall Islamabad from 26-28 July 2019 where stalls of different variety of mangoes were displayed including seedless mangoes first time ever in Pakistan.A number of foreign dignitaries, senior politicians, notables of the society, President PGCL Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, Senior Vice President PGCL Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and Vice Chancellor MNS Agriculture University Multan Dr Asif Ali were also present at the time of Inauguration on 26 July 2019.
United Arab Emirates Ambassador His Excellency Mr Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zaabi and Honourable Minister for Agriculture Punjab Mr Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial inaugurated the festival.
Uzbekistan Ambassador Furqat Sidikov and also attended the inauguration. The festival was also attended by agricultural experts, mango growers and representatives of cultivators’ organizations from all over the country.
Chairman Punjab Board of Investment Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan played a pivotal role in planning, organizing and executing the said festival.
This show was organized under the collaboration of the Management of Centaurus, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan, Mango Research Institute Multan and Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University.
The basic aim of organizing this exhibition at the pioneer Mall of Islamabad The Centaurus was not only to highlight the importance of Pakistani Mangoes but also to increase and enhance its export and this exhibition will play an important role in enhancing the productivity of mangoes. Pakistan is the fourth largest producer of mangoes and shares 8% of the production of the mangoes.
The total under cultivation area for mangoes in Pakistan is 170 million hector. At present, there are multiple breeds of mangoes in Pakistan out of which 9 are registered.
The famous types of mangoes are Chaunsa, Sindhri, Anwar ratore, and Langra which have no match in taste in the entire world.
The total production of mangoes in year 2016-17 was approximately 17 lacs 5 thousand and 80 tons whereas export was 64 thousand and 112 tons.
Last year Pakistani mangoes were exported to many new countries out of which Japan, America, Lebanon, Marakish and South korea are on the top of the list.
Moreover, Government of the Punjab has taken multiple steps in the field of agriculture which would ensure more production of mangoes and revenue generation and in this all, role of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan can never be undermined and shall be remembered as an initiator. Consecutively, this would be second exhibition of its kind planned and organized by the Chairman Board of Investment Punjab in
The Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan during his short tenure of Interim Government and now as Chairman Punjab BOI has initiated revolutionary steps for the development of agricultural field in line with the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, continuation of which shall pay an important role in the country’s development.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan had also donated a sum of Rs 2 Crores last year in personal capacity to MNS Agriculture University Multan for the establishment of a library which was a very noble step and no such precedence exists.
His this deed will act as a beacon and source of inspiration for others. The Chairman during this exhibition re-iterated his vision of making this country rich in the field of agriculture.
Moreover, he also said that a great investment is being generated in Punjab which will also have a positive impact on the agricultural field and enhance our yield. This exhibition will culminate on 28 July 2019.=DNA
