Sahiwal police encounter shocking: Tareen

ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (DNA): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen on Sunday said the Sahiwal police encounter incident is shocking and unpardonable.“Justice must be done and done swiftly. The responsible police officers must face the most severe form of punishment, if seniors are responsible they too must be held accountable. Heads must roll. Enough is enough,” he tweeted.

Four people, including two women, were killed in a shady encounter involving the Punjab police’s counter-terrorism department (CTD) on a highway in the Qadirabad area of Sahiwal district on Saturday noon.

Earlier, Punjab Minister for Law Raja Basharat stated that Joint Investigation Team will probe into the matter about killing of four people.

He stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan is monitoring the development and action will be taken against responsible.

Punjab Minister for Law Raja Basharat stated, according to report of CTD, Sahiwal operation was carried out on concrete evidence but final decision will be made on JIT report.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Sunday, he said that according to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Zeeshan was working for proscribed organization Daesh and he opened fire on police party.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is mulling to overhaul CTD and intending to purge the nefarious elements, if they were involved. DNA
