FEB 25, (DNA) – Karan Johar in his latest interview, Rajeev Masand has said on Saturday that perhaps now something extreme might need to happen for him and Kajol to be drawn back to each other.Masand interviewed KJo recently and was given a tour of the director’s new Dharma office which is less than a year old and quite near to Yash Raj Films.Through the course of interview, the filmmaker talked openly about what his relationship with Kajol Devgan meant to him. Masand drew Johar to what he has candidly written in his memoir, ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, released last month.

He told Masand that certain events and happenings made him realise that this relation (with Kajol) was now over and something extreme might need to happen now for them to talk to each other.

He showed Masand a portrait erected in his office of Kajol, Shahrukh and him and said: “I’m not petty and stupid, I’m not gonna remove this because she has been a big part of my journey.”

The protrait that KJo referred to in his statement

“25 years I’ve loved that girl and I will continue to love her in my heart. I don’t hate Kajol, I just don’t speak to her.”

“I just wish there was more understanding,” the Student of the Year director added.

While answering a question, he said that the first people he turned to after the falling out were Shahrukh Khan and Aditya Chopra. People in his immediate circle probably thought that things would settle down, he said.

KJo also said: “I miss her a lot, I think of her a lot.” Johar confessed that it is awkward being in the same vicinity with her at parties. He professed that in such a situation, we pretend we dont exist for each other.

This is not the first time Johar has opened up about his falling out with decades-long friend.

Towards the second half of the interview, Johar gave a personal tour of the production house to his friend.

Earlier Anupama Chopra, a journalist and author covered Johar’s 27,000 square feet office in her interview for digital platform called Film Companion.

Masand did not cover Ae Dil Hai Mushkil-filmmaker’s office but offices of directors who work for Dharma Productions, Ayan Mukherji, Punit Malhotra, Shashank Khaitan, Abhishek Varman who had directed 2 States for the house, Tarun Mansukhani of Dostana fame and others.

KJo candidly revealed that Ayan had bartered his space with another directed because he wanted the window.

Ayan Mukherji’s office. The Dharma asset is to direct a Ranbir-Alia starrer called Dragon as his next.

Speaking of which, Alia Bhatt did a  cameo  in the interview as Johar referred to it. She was at the office, presumably over Dragon venture with Dharma and met the two as they walked out of KJo’s office.

Only in Karan Johar’s office, you bump into stars like Alia Bhatt, Rajeev Masand said.=DNA
