Ukraine embassy to continue promoting cultural activities: ambassador

ISLAMABAD, MAY 07 (DNA) –Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Lakomov has said his embassy is working zealously to promote cultural relations between Ukraine and Pakistan adding their efforts had yielded positive results.Ambassador Lakomov was speaking on the occasion of sculpture exhibition of famous artists of Pakistan Mr. Tariq Kakar and Mrs. Natalia Boichenko-Tariq. Tariq and his wife came from Ukriane along with their pieces of art to showcase them in Pakistan.

Embassy of Ukraine provided them with a platform to hold their exhibition at the Embassy premises, which went quite well.

The ambassador later taking to DNA news agency said, Tariq and Mrs Natalia had put in their best efforts to produce these pieces of art, which can rightly be declared as unique artistic work done by wonderful artists.

Ambassador Lakomov further said ever since his arrival in Pakistan he had tried his best to give new meaning to bilateral  relations and he will continue to do so till the time he remains in Pakistan as ambassador.

He was of the view such exhibitions and interactions in fact help contribute strengthening of bilateral relations.

The ambassador also talked about Ukraine membership to the European Union and noted with satisfaction that talks with the EU were heading in the right direction.

He told, EU accession negotiations are taking place in parts and soon they will have a Customs union followed by joining of Schengen visa regime.

He said, Ukraine economy despite many challenges was on the move credit of which goes to the incumbent government and especially Ukrainian people who have sacrificed their comforts for the ultimate well-being and development of their country.

Earlier Tariq and his wife briefed the audience about their work and appreciated the interest of art lovers in their sculptures.=DNA
