Seven killed, 30 injured as three explosions hit Peshawar cinema


PESHAWAR: Three back-to-back explosions occurred inside Peshawar’s Shama Cinema on Tuesday, killing seven people and leaving at least 30 others injured. According to DNA, multiple explosions occurred when a show was ongoing in the cinema. Subsequently, seven people were killed whereas 30 others were injured, according to rescue sources. Following the explosions, panic gripped the cinema and the injured persons started crying for help. On receiving information, rescue teams reached the site and shifted the wounded persons to Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment.

An emergency was moreover imposed in LRH and additional staff was urgently summoned.

At the time of the blasts, approximately 70 people were watching a film.

Shama Cinema is situated in the busy Bacha Khan Chowk area of Peshawar.
