Relations with Philippine growing at fast speed: minister


ISLAMABAD, JAN 23 (DNA) – Engr. Khurram Dastgir Federal Commerce Minister has said relations with Philippines were moving at a fast speed adding there is strong will and desire on both sides to give further impetus to these relations.He expressed these views while speaking on the occasion of ground breaking of construction of new Philippine embassy in the Diplomatic enclave. A large number of diplomats and members from civil society attended the ground breaking ceremony.

The federal minster further said, Philippine was an important country in the region and similarly Pakistan too was fast emerging as economic hub of the region therefore both countries had a lot to share with each other.

Khurram Dastgir further said recent trade contacts with India would usher in a new era of economic activity between the two countries. He was quite hopeful these new initiatives would greatly benefit people at large.

The ambassador of Philippine Domingo D. Lucenario, Jr. in his address said the construction of embassy building inside the diplomatic enclave speaks volumes for the proximity of relations between the two countries.

He said the construction of the embassy means we are here to stay and want to forge a deep rooted partnership with Pakistan. The ambassador further said Pakistan was a great country and Philippine looks forward to working with Pakistan on longer term basis.=DNA
