Air chief preside over Ski federation meeting


ISLAMABAD, JAN 09 (DNA) –    General Council Meeting of Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) was held at Air Headquarters Islamabad under the president ship of Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force who is also the Patron-in-Chief of Ski Federation of Pakistanng. In his address, Patron-in-Chief SFP highlighted the contributions of the outgoing office-bearers. He also assured that PAF would continue to extend full support to SFP for its ongoing and future endeavours. He also talked about the chairlift project at Naltar and the contributions made by PAF in this regard. He also mentioned a similar project to be started at Malam Jabba Ski Slope.

The CAS talked about the efforts being made by PAF for the social uplift of Naltar and improvement of educational facilities for the children of the area.

At the concluding note of his address, he advised the participants of the meeting to elect most suitable persons who should work wholeheartedly for the development of this exhilarating winter sport in Pakistan.

Air Marshal Athar Hussain Bukhari, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was unanimously elected as the new President Ski Federation of Pakistan.

For the election of a member of Executive Committee, initially 05 candidates were nominated by respective member associations against one slot.

During the meeting, Secretary General SFP, Air Commodore Mussarat Ali gave a detailed overview of skiing activities in 2012-13 besides the future projects to be taken up by the Federation.

The house was briefed about the efforts being made by the Federation for inclusion of Ski Championship results for award of Quaid-e-Azam trophy and preparations regarding qualification and participation in Winter Olympic Games 2014.=DNA
